Glass Shower Cleaning & Maintenance
No matter how hard you try, it's difficult to keep a glass shower spotless and clean. Even if your shower enclosure or shower doors have frosted glass, it should never look as if it's permanently fogged over; you should be able to see partially through it! Foggy and hazy shower glass is usually caused by soap scum build up, lime scale, calcium deposits, or a combination. So how do you keep the shower doors clean? Well, one great way is to help prevent it using Diamon-Fusion, a film that can be applied to the glass in new and existing showers. Read on for some helpful tips you can do at home to help keep the glass in your shower looking great.
Shower Door Soap Scum
Soap scum makes up the majority of the grime that causes shower glass and shower doors to become hazy and foggy. Soap scum is actually pretty easily removed if you clean the glass regularly, but if its given time to build up, removing it becomes much more difficult. One great way to help keep the glass nice and clear is to use a squeegee after each shower. The squeegee is non-abrasive and will remove all the condensation and water that, if left on the glass, will leave soap scum and can even encourage mold growth.
When selecting a product to clean your shower glass, make sure to use a non-abrasive cleaner. Abrasive cleaners can damage the surface of the glass and make it easier for soap scum, mold, and mineral deposits to form which means your glass shower will look dirty sooner than if the surface was smooth.
As we stated before, one of the best ways to keep your shower doors looking great is to prevent the build up in the first place. Protective films are being used in showers a lot more these days, and it's easy to add these films to both new and existing showers. At Century, we provide a system known as Enduro Shield to our clients that helps keep the glass cleaner longer, and protects the longevity of the glass.
